About Us:

The Sex Talk Arabic (TST) is an intersectional feminist digital organisation tackling issues of sexual violence in Arabic-speaking societies through advocacy, knowledge production and service provision. TST supports individuals and communities with alternative and accessible knowledge and resources that enable them to make informed decisions about their bodies, relationships, health, and rights.

Job Purpose:

The Research and Monitoring Officer will be responsible for supporting the organisation’s research initiatives, monitoring and evaluating project activities, and measuring indicators and outcomes to assess impact and inform future programmatic decisions. The role involves gathering, analysing, and reporting data in alignment with the organisation’s goals to improve programme effectiveness and accountability. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong leadership skills to guide teams and ensure projects’ success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research Support

o Conduct literature reviews and background research to support programmatic planning and development.

o Design and implement surveys, interviews, and other research methods to gather data on project needs and impact.

o Collect and synthesise data to contribute to the development of reports, publications, and presentations.

2. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

o Develop and refine M&E frameworks, including indicators, benchmarks, and data collection methods, in collaboration with project teams.

o Monitor projects’ activities across various stages, assessing alignment with goals and objectives.

o Support the development and implementation of tools for tracking projects’ performance, milestones, and outputs.

3. Data Analysis and Reporting

o Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate projects’ performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.

o Produce regular M&E reports, including quarterly and annual performance summaries, to inform stakeholders and partners.

o Ensure all reports and presentations are accurate, accessible, and aligned with organisational standards.

4. Impact Assessment

o Conduct assessments to measure the impact and effectiveness of projects, providing insights for strategic adjustments and planning.

o Track progress against established indicators and outcomes, ensuring documentation of key achievements and lessons learned.

5. Documentation and Knowledge Management

o Maintain organised records of research and M&E documents, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility for stakeholders.

o Contribute to the development of knowledge-sharing tools and platforms within the organisation to facilitate learning and best practices.

6. Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building

o Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand data needs and build capacity for M&E processes.

o Conduct training sessions for team members on data collection methods, M&E protocols, and reporting standards as needed.

o Support the preparation of presentations and materials for meetings, workshops, and other events involving partners.

7. Compliance and Quality Assurance

o Ensure data collection, analysis, and reporting comply with relevant ethical guidelines, standards, and organisational policies.

o Implement quality control processes to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and relevance to project objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Higher degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, or a similar role, preferably in a non-profit or development organisation.

• Strong analytical skills with experience in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

• Proficiency in analysis tools and software (e.g., NVivo, SPSS, Excel, or similar).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner.

• Familiarity with Gender and Sexual Health and Rights issues is a plus.

• Skilled in data handling, able to identify trends and derive insights from data.

• Ability to communicate results effectively to various stakeholders.

• Demonstrates initiative and responsibility in carrying out duties without constant supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, culturally diverse environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
